At Victoria Waterjet we’re proud to offer a “green” cutting process. In fact, we’re so proud of it, we put it in our name. That’s right, we didn’t call ourselves Victoria Waterjet for nothing.
The waterjet cutting method is a clean, safe process that reduces the environmental impact caused by the disposal of by-products and wastewater. The process doesn’t require chemicals, gases or noxious liquids. Instead, we use non-toxic garnet—a natural, reusable and recyclable high-grade sand—as the abrasive in the cutting process.
CNC stands for computer numeric control. In simple terms, it means a computer converts geometric shapes into a file of precisely programmed commands. A high-pressure water stream follows the path created by the file to cut precise, reliable shapes out of materials. It’s a bit like a giant plotter printer.
The versatility of the CNC waterjet equipment handles everything from extremely thin materials up to 6-inch thick steel. It can also accommodates a wide variety of materials:
Because the machine enables stacking of materials, you can also cut down on costs while increasing productivity. The equipment in our shop includes a 5′ x 10′ table so we can easily and quickly manage large, as well as small, jobs.
Waterjet cutting has changed the way many products are manufactured. Along with the environmental benefits, CNC waterjet cutting also offers unparalleled production benefits. Because the process uses water instead of lasers or plasma, there is a much lower heat-affected zone. This means the cutting process won’t interfere with the material’s inherent structure. CNC waterjet cutting also offers increased accuracy and the ability to cut through thick materials.
